Book Review: Star Wars: Path to Destruction

I love that audiobooks are a thing, because I can read books without the effort or inconvenience of having to have the physical books with me. Though I will say, books are nice to have, sometimes its just hard to get to reading it when you have so much to do. the convenience of an audiobook is that you can listen to it on the road, at the gym and basically go hands free. Then there are the Star Wars audiobooks. They go far an above any book experience because they add music and sounds in key moments. Not only that but the narrator is really good at sucking you in to the story.

This book has been in my TBR since I have started getting into the Star Wars written universe. I have so many good things about it and I just had to sink my teeth into it and see how it fares with modern stories. I have to say it did not disappoint, in fact, I would say it surpassed my expectations by a wide margin. Now before I raise the expectations too high I will say there were some flaws in the story, some points where I questioned why some things went down the way they did but overall it was an enjoyable read and I highly recommend it.

The story follows a man by the name of Bane and his journey into the world of the dark side. He starts out as a mild mannered individual with the ability to predict certain things with the use of the force though he does not know exactly what it is. He doesn’t really seem to fit in anywhere, the people he works with don’t like him to much and he gets into trouble but he’s not exactly a bad guy that is until he really does get into trouble which leads him to run into the armies of the Sith. His abilities get him noticed and further he goes into the rabbit hole.

*Spoilers*

The characters are complex, each one trying to outsmart and outmaneuver the next. Bane’s desire for power and the games people play to manipulate him, push him further into the ways of the dark side. It’s really interesting because, as a fan of the movies, you get to see the other side of things. Everyone is scummy, everyone is out for their own, and nobody is trust worthy enough believe for a second. Bane’s journey is a result of all those things coming together to create the ultimate super villain. As far as I am concerned they really show how powerful and scary he becomes. They don’t just tell you he’s different they show it and that’s what makes him a force to be reckoned with.

I am so excited to read- or listen- to this story. I have no idea where the trilogy will go but I am excited to find out more about the dark side of the force and explore more of the characters. None of the characters are safe either. There’s so much betrayal going around that it’s impossible to know who will live and who will die. Anyways, I highly recommend listening to this book or if not reading it! it’s so worth the read because it’s something new to the Star Wars universe to discover, especially as a fan of the original Star Wars, sometimes you just want something new and this is definitely different. Thank you for reading this review! God bless!
