May Reading List 2021

Like last month I have goal to read about 3-4 books a month. that’s about a book every week. With how busy I am I don’t think I will be able to do that every month but it would be nice. The books I read are not the small ones either so I have to just trudge along and hopefully we’ll get some books done. This time I want to incorporate some comics as well. I have recently been really into comic books and Manga so maybe ill throw in a review or two about that as well. These are the books that I will attempt to read this month.

Bands of Mourning by Brandon Sanderson

My audiobook pick of the month will be the Bands of Mourning by Brandon Sanderson. This month I hope to finish the trilogy I started a couple months ago. I’ve enjoyed the story so far because of the vigilante type feel this story has. It kind of reminds me of Batman if I’m being honest. The only thing is he doesn’t run around in a cowl and cape, though the latter is up for debate. Either way im excited to reach the conclusion of this trilogy and see where it goes.

We Were the Lucky Ones

I started this book late last month. From what I’ve gathered this book is about one Jewish Family and their struggle to survive the impending War that is World War 2. It’s honestly really good so far. There is a deep and dreadful sense of looming doom throughout each page though not all of it is gloom and doom. Whenever I get to a part that escapes the atmosphere of dread, I can’t help look at the page count and realize I’ve only just begun; there’s so much left to go that its hard to rest. I could only imagine what it could’ve really been like. This book does an amazing job at depicting what the characters are feeling, the kind of weight every decision they make holds, and the fear of the unknown. I can’t wait to finish this one.

The Dark Knight Returns

I haven’t read a comic in years, and after my recent viewing of Zack Snyders the Justice League, it is safe to say that my interest in comics has rekindled. One of my favorite heroes is batman. Ever since I was little, I watched the movies, played the games and watch the animated tv shows. I love hero stories what can I say? I wanted to go back to the days of my youth so I decided to try out some comics. My sister got me the Walking dead comics last year and I really enjoyed it. This comic is said to be one of the better tales of batman so I wanted to give It a shot. So far I’ve enjoyed the story though the artwork leaves me a bit wanting. We’ll see how it turns out.

Great Expectations by Charles Dickens

This is supposably a classic that I have never read. If I’m being completely honest I first took interest in this book because I saw the movie Spiderman into the spider verse. Then as I was browsing through barnes and nobles I saw it there and when I read the synopsis I thought it might be interesting.

The return of the king

I had started the Lord of the Rings series late December and never got around to finishing the last book. This is going to be my “bring to work” book, meaning I’ll mainly be reading it on my breaks at work. The hardest part about reading this series so far is the very descriptive language that is used throughout the book. I love the character interactions and the story behind it. Like We were the lucky ones I don’t expect to finish it this month but we will see.

These are a few books I added to my library last month that I am excited to delve into hopefully if I am able to finish any of the rest of these books this month. So far i’ve hear so many good things from the ember blade, the blade itself and the sword of Kaigen. I follow a bunch of book-tubers on Youtube so whenever I see a book that I might like I end up getting it. The only thing is that i don’t know how I’ll find the time to finish all of these. And my bank account is yelling at me for not spending wisely. haha. anyways with that I will end this blog

God bless.
